I Bike Mcr: exhibition, events and a roller race
Beginning today and continuing until April 20, I Bike Mcr is ‘a grassroots festival that has been organised by cyclists for cyclists’.
The organisers say that ‘everyone is welcome to participate in every event, whether you have a top of the range bike or an old shopper’.
The exhibition, at that staple of random and interesting events, The Basement on Lever Street, includes work from 11 artists, including Mancubist favourites the Levenshulme Bicycle Orchestra.
Other events include tonight’s ever-popular Critical Mass bike rides, plus a ‘moonlight pub ride’ from Sandbar and, worryingly, taking in several other pubs along the way, a ‘bicycle polo match’ and a film night.
Tonight also includes a roller race at The Basement. It all sounds highly organised, with teams and qualifying times, despite the apparently low-tech racing equipment:

‘low-tech’ compared to what? that’s standard roller racing equipment

Is it? Fair enough… I’ve just not witnessed one before. Looks like fun!
