BBC Manchester blogging workshop in review

For some reason the BBC England front page currently has a link to Mancubist. Also mentioned is fellow Mancunia-based blogger Julia Delvaux, who I notice attended last week’s BBC Manchester blogging workshop:

The goal of the workshop was to bring together the Mancunian bloggers of all degrees of proficiency and to cover a variety of topics, from choosing the right platform to making money with your blog. The BBC Editorial Guidelines were also briefly looked at, and the meeting was led by Robin Hamman, with participation of Richard Fair and Craig McGinty. I also did a bit of talking.

The workshop inevitably spilled out into the Lass O’Gowrie pub, which is when you usually learn who the really hardcore bloggers/alcoholics are. It sounds like the evening was successful on the whole.

Julia goes on to talk about the meaning of blogging and how and why she started. She mentions a ‘degree of arrogance’ bloggers can have, but also that it’s a great way to learn new skills and work out your own house style.
