New feature: Last.fm upcoming gigs
Those of you with functioning memories may recall that until recently I previewed my recommended gigs on this site.
Since I upgraded the blogging software I use (Wordpress), however, this calendar hasn’t worked. So now I’ve replaced it with my upcoming gigs feed from Last.fm.
Last.fm is a growing community that helps users track their listening habits and discover other music. I highly recommend it if, like me, you listen to a lot of music but are always on the look-out for a new favourite band.
The site is constantly expanding and the new event section is a great addition: just yesterday, for example, I found out that Malcolm Middleton is doing a daytime session in Fopp on February 28. It’s also where I first read about the Koffee Pot’s Teatime Sessions, mentioned on Friday.
Events are recommended based on your listening trends and those of your ‘friends’. You can get a decent idea of how popular a band is too, by seeing how many people plan to attend one of their gigs.
If you do sign up – or you’re already there – feel free to add me.
