Manchester Book Awards
Book clubs are all the rage these days. I saw a note in Zero Records, Didsbury, just the other week, for a new group at the Woodstock pub. Books and alcohol combined? Is that such a good idea? (If you think so, leave a comment and I’ll let you know how to get in touch.)
Anyway, such groups seem particularly popular in Manchester – you can find a group near you here, as part of the Manchester Book Awards.

The Manchester Book Awards website asks participants to read selected books – all available in Manchester libraries – and rate and review them:
These are the best six books in Britain, as voted for by reading groups in schools, libraries and homework centres all over Manchester.
Besides hopefully finding the books rewarding, those who vote can win VIP tickets to the award ceremony at the City of Manchester stadium on March 7.
