More on the BBC’s blogging habits
So did anyone go to the BBC Manchester blogging workshop last Thursday? I suspect the bizarre weather and unnerving traffic meant a few didn’t make it in the end.
For those who did: how was it?
The BBC is continuing the trend today, by asking listeners of Five Live to write their first ever blog post for its website. By mid-afternoon, they’ve already had 150 respondents, most embracing blogging’s self-referential style with ease.
Annoyingly, however, the posts are just displayed as one long page of comments on the Five Live Breakfast blog. Whatever happened to user-friendliness, BBC?
Minor gripes aside, hopefully some of those people participating will enjoy the experience so much that they set their own blogs up.

Damn it you’re good!
Air at The Academy? I’ve checked the Academy site and it just says tickets on sale soon. Ooh, ooh, ooh, need those Air tickets!
Thank you for a marvelous service the community. I’ve not had my tea yet. Might be hyperventilating or something.

Oh. I didn’t go to Blog Class, by the way. I’d be interested to hear from anyone who did though.

yeah, I went and i enjoyed it, it was interesting, more so than i thought it would be, truth be told i didn’t really know what to expect.
My reason for going was really to find out *why* people blog… I mean I have been blogging for a couple of years, but really as a means of showing of photographs to friends and family, not as an online journal to be stumbled across and written with the public in mind like so many out there.
What I think made the group interesting was that each blog was so Different, Richard, our host, works of course on the BBC Blog as well as (i think) several of his own blogs. Julia who works on a blog primarily focussed on Russian literature. Kate who currently works on a blog at a more corporate / environmental level. And Lewis who has a personal blog of musings. What makes Lewises so interesting (apart from the content) is that his appears to be entirely ‘hand rolled’ eschewing completely the off-the-shel’ soloutions of WP, MT and blogger and building his own from the ground up - which is particularly interesting.
So, yeah there was good discussion on all things blogging without gettitng too bogged down in one area - i did enjoy it and will go again.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I’m sure I’ll head down at some point.
Richard’s personal blog is in my blogroll. I’ll look through those you mentioned and will add any I’ve missed.
