Any designers in the house?
What with the increase in Manchester blogging I’ve noticed lately and the BBC getting in on the act with Thursday’s blogging workshop, I think it’s time to give this accidental community a little more identity.
So I’m appealing to any Manc-based designers – wannabe or otherwise – to come up with a button/badge. It’ll most likely link to the Manchester blog aggregator, where the Manchizzle continues to do stellar work.
The specs: standard button size (80×15 pixels), making some clear reference to Manchester/Mancunia/Manc so people can work out what it means without too much puzzlement.
Beyond that, incorporate whatever you feel is appropriate. A rain cloud perhaps? Urbis? See my various affiliations or the simple ones on BritBlog for inspiration.
Link through to you creations in the comments please. If there are enough entries (ie. more than one) I’ll set up a poll to pick the best. And if you’ve got a Manc blog, please spread the word.

I didn’t think 80×15 was a standard button/banner size? 88×31 ?

Fast reply! In answer to your question:

88×31 is commonly called a ‘micro button’ or ‘micro bar’ from what I can see.
It looks too tall to me. Personally I’d prefer 80×15. But that’s the designers’ prerogative I guess.

Great idea! But the aggregator will need some updating, i think… anyone interested in working on that?
