Red Deer Club at Fuel in Withington
It seems silly to mention one folk club happening in South Manchester this weekend without mentioning another.
Red Deer Club has been around since April 2005. It is based upstairs at Fuel in Withington, which stocks Badger ales until they inevitably sell out, and entry costs the best kind of price (free).
Dunc le Chunk, DJ extraordinaire and editor of hoodlumtribe, runs the night. He always picks out a few good acts – David Thomas Broughton being my highlight so far – and there’s enough time between sets to be sociable.
This month’s Red Deer Club, happening tomorrow night from 8pm, features Hotplate, Liz Green and Naomi Kashiwagi. There are also specials coming up at the Bay Horse in the Northern Quarter and Kings Arms and Sacred Trinity Church, both in Salford.
