Ultimate Holding Company (UHC), Manchester
I just paid a visit to Manchester’s Ultimate Holding Company, who are a not-for-profit inter-disciplinary art collective based at Hotspur House, one of the city’s more characterful office blocks.
The collective formed four years ago because of shared ethical interests. Their key concerns are two very worthy causes, Manchester and climate change.
You may know them for their This Is Camp X-Ray installation. They’ve also done design work for Amnesty and the Vegetarian Society and during this year’s Futuresonic they held a Luncheon on the Barge event.
They’ve published a very impressive book, UHC Collective Works 05-06, which includes a particularly interesting project: OpenCity Repository is, as they put it, a project “that challenge Manchester’s rebirth as an entrepreneurial, neo-liberal city”.
More about UHC to follow, I’m sure.
