Manchester: tenth worst place in the UK?
Slow news day? Fear not, Channel 4 has produced a pointless television programme and an equally pointless league table to accompany it.
The conclusion of Best and Worst Places to Live: Manchester is tenth worst, alongside such esteemed company as Blaenau Gwent and Merthyr Tydfil in Wales, Strabane in Northern Ireland, Nottingham, Middlesborough and various London districts (Hackney was top).
Salford – ninth last year – loses this highly marketable badge of honour, based on levels of crime, the environment, lifestyle, education and employment.
