Smart-looking and let's face it Timeout is a nice-looking brand, but is anyone else fearful it's going to go down the Xfm route and become a tragic parody of a Manchester that's long gone? Let's take a look under the surface. That's what City Life did when it started out.

I thought it was a well boring magazine... Same old writers, same themes over and over again. I don't think the market will support the magazine. The number of tourists coming to the area buying it for its brand name will be low, and locals getting free papers morning and evening will not be interested either.
Perhaps if the Big Issue could be a bit better in the local events department... shame to see its market squeezed even more, especially by Time Out: Not exactly a success for local entrepreneurship. Something new, saying something new is what is required. Professional Mancs, and professional journalists have thier place, but after a while (say since Madchester - nearly 20 years?) their copy gets a tad dull.
