The Beeb is ‘looking for your Manchester content’
So says the new BBC Manchester Blog, via The Manchizzle.
It’s good to see that Richard Fair and Robin Hamman are being explicit with their plans – they’re using Technorati, Britblogs, Flickr, even aggregation to keep in touch with Manchester’s online community.
They also plan to run multimedia workshops for those bloggers they want to participate. But why stop there? Why not open them up to the public at large?
Something else that caught my eye: the idea of recruiting two bloggers from each of Manchester’s nine boroughs. Or is that ten?:
We’re looking for one or two participants in each each of the ten boroughs of Manchester
The confusion is understandable. I, for one, have no idea what the boroughs are. In fact, I don’t even know which one I live in. Please, somebody enlighten me.
But small points aside, I look forward to reading more about what Auntie has in store.

According to Wikipedia’s entry for Greater Manchester, the boroughs are: Bolton, Bury, the City of Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, the City of Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. That, to me, is the City of Manchester + 9 boroughs but some would lump them all in together and call it 10. Sorry for the confusion!
As to why not open the sessions to the public at large – we’d love to, and hopefully one day we will, but for the moment the idea is to keep numbers down so that we can ensure that it’s a good experience for everyone involved.
Thanks for blogging us! :-)

Thanks for clearing that up. It’s unusual to see anything classified by them.
As you can see, I was (mis)reading boroughs of Manchester, not Greater Manchester.
Fair enough about the workshops. I wouldn’t want an army of wannabe bloggers knocking on my door!
